Workshop II:
“Motivate Yourself, Motivate Your
Learners”
If there is one area in which all teachers
agree with unanimity, it is on the supreme
importance of motivation in the language
classroom (Van Lier, 1995). And although
easily perceptible, teachers are often
seeking for tools to make motivation come
about. This presentation aims at establishing
what motivation is and what it is not.
Following from that we will analyze factors
that make it happen. During our time together,
we will also be looking at small classroom
procedures and activities that will facilitate
the establishment of motivation, this
fundamental but slippery element, in our
daily practices.
“Motive-se
e Motive seus alunos”
Se há uma área
sobre a qual os professores são
unânimes é sobre a importância
suprema da motivação nas
aulas de línguas (Van Lier, 1995).
E, apesar de facilmente perceptível,
os professores estão freqüentemente
procurando ferramentas para conseguir
motivação. Esta apresentação
objetiva estabelecer o que é motivação
e o que não é motivação.
A partir daí, analisaremos os fatores
causadores da motivação.
Durante nosso tempo juntos, também
estaremos examinando pequenos procedimento
e atividades em sala de aula que facilitarão
estabelecer motivação, elemento
fundamental, mas incerto na nossa prática
diária.
